The Problem?
Black men today are over 17 times more likely to die by gun homicide than white men. In our community, both perpetrators and victims of violence are typically African American males between ages 14-38. This is not just a statistic—these are our sons, brothers, and neighbors.
WHo We Are
Forever Takes A Village (FTAV) is a nonprofit, community-based organization dedicated to reducing community violence in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Founded by Khlilia Daniels in response to the tragic murder of a young boy in the city, FTAV stands on the belief that one life lost is one too many and that every life in our community matters.
Our Vision
We're working toward a community where violence is treated as the public health crisis it is, where healing is prioritized, and where every resident has access to opportunity and hope.
our approach
To combat this crisis, FTAV uses a proven strategy known as Community Violence Intervention (CVI). This community-centered approach employs trusted individuals known as Violence Interrupters or Neighborhood Change Agents—people with firsthand experience and deep community ties who are uniquely positioned to mediate conflict and guide individuals away from violence.
